The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has made it its mission to make sure all Americans are protected with sufficient health care coverage and at a price point they can afford. Alongside the Affordable Care Act is Covered California, the statewide healthcare marketplace for individuals, families, and small businesses in California.
What Are the Benefits?
Under the Affordable Care Act and Covered California, California residents can now experience a smoother insurance shopping experience, more comprehensive coverage, and unlimited lifetime health benefits at a lower cost. Individuals, families, and businesses that were formerly ineligible for health insurance can now receive quality health care at a price they can afford.
There are 10 categories of benefits: ambulatory patient services, emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance abuse services, prescriptions, rehabilitation services and devices, laboratory services, wellness and chronic disease management, and pediatric services.
What Are the Costs?
The cost of health insurance plans will vary according to a variety of factors, including your pricing region, your age, and more. Starting in 2014, all health insurance plans will be classified as Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum, making it easy for individuals to find the right health insurance plan for them based on price and benefits. Individuals may also be eligible for subsidies on their monthly premiums if they are within 400% of the federal poverty line.
